Charlie Turner is a Romanian-born, LGBTQ+ writer and creator with a passion for character-driven storytelling that’s heartfelt, chaotic, and a little bit fabulous. His work blends sharp comedy with emotional honesty, often spotlighting underdogs, outsiders, and beautifully messy friendships.
Charlie’s writing journey began with a bang—winning Best Screenplay at the Florida Film Festival while still in college. He got his start in the industry as a writer’s assistant for Matt Damon and Peter Berg, before joining Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine as one of the company’s earliest employees—and its first male hire. There, he helped build the development slate across digital, book club, and TV/film projects during what he calls “the Wild West days,” when no job was too small and every idea was worth chasing.
From there, Charlie worked directly with Reese Witherspoon, Chrissy Teigen, and Jeff Goldblum, diving behind the scenes to help grow Draper James, launch the Cravings cookware brand, and tag along while Jeff charmed the world on a press tour (and probably the galaxy too).
His latest project, Self Help Me!, is a half-hour comedy about accidental fame, fake healing, and the real power of friendship. It’s sharp, campy, and sneakily sincere—much like Charlie himself.
